The linen I’m using is a medium weight. I don’t know what count it is, but to give you an idea, here’s a close up of it with a ruler showing 2.5 cm or an inch:
The reason I’m telling you this is to give you an idea of how closely together the stitches I’m using to couch the gold thread are. Each hole between the woven threads in a row has a stitch through it:
That is a lot of stitches! This is why it’s taking a long time to do what looks like not very much. In case you’re wondering, you bet I’m using a magnifying glass!
Oh I do love detailed work! I love seeing it, and doing it myself as well. The peacock feather is beautiful. 🙂
