Dodecahedron I
This small golden geometric form was made to celebrate the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild’s 50th anniversary.
It is completely hand embroidered, worked in concentrically couched Japanese gold thread, spiralling in from the edges of each plane to the centre, over a raised star detail.
The edges where the planes join are edged with gold pearl purl. Each section is worked separately, before being mounted on a thin card backing and the whole assembled by hand.
Technical details
Three-dimensional piece in couched metal thread, with pearl purl edging.
