Dodecahedron II
This three-dimensional geometric form is intended as a companion piece to Dodecahedron I, and was created for the ‘Moving On’ exhibition in Hartlepool Art Gallery in 2006. It is hollow, with the interior lined in dark blue silk satin, setting off the silver exterior.
The exterior is completely hand embroidered, worked in concentrically couched Japanese silver thread, spiralling in from the edges of each plane to the central circle.
The edges of each cut out circle, and the edges where the planes join, are edged with silver pearl purl. Each section is worked separately, before being mounted on a thin card backing and the whole assembled by hand.
