This dramatic landscape is of the imposing ruin of Dunstanburgh Castle, on the rugged Northumbrian coast.

The stitched panel is entirely hand embroidered on fine linen. The sky, sea and the castle itself are worked in split stitch, as it allows subtle shading, with areas of defined colour outlined in back stitch. The cliff and the hill are also in split stitch, with shingle worked in French knots.
