Gold Tulip

This large panel was inspired by a postcard of a botanical illustration by J. Edwards.

Each of the petals, and the leaf and stem are free machine embroidered and machine stitched to shape. Each piece was then hand applied to the background, carefully arranged to follow the form of a real flower as closely as possible. All the petals are attached at the base only, giving the piece movement.

A dark green background was chosen for contrast, and padded to create softness. The back of the panel is covered in a dark plain fabric, with a cord for hanging.
